Apple at its biggest WWDC event, showcased a bundle of new features it is bringing to its MacBook, iPhones, and wearables. Noticeably, Apple’s iOS 18 & iPadOS 18 features already exist on Galaxy devices with its One UI.
Let’s take a closer look at the features Apple announced during the WWDC 2024 event that exist on Galaxy devices.
iOS 18 features that are available in Samsung Galaxy devices
- AI-powered image editing
Samsung has already offered an AI-powered tool to enhance the photo editing experience. It lets you remove particular parts from your photos on your Galaxy smartphone and tablets. Apple has introduced the same feature today at the WWDC 2024 event.
- Customize app icons
Apple announces convenient customization features with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. The new customization feature lets you change the colors of app icons by choosing the colors per their choice. The same feature Samsung has already introduced with the title Color Palette on Galaxy phones and tablets.

On the comparison side, Samsung smartphones already have Game Booster and Priority Mode features. These automatically optimize the game settings according to device and usage. The Priority Mode hides incoming calls and other notifications to upgrade your focus on your gameplay.
- Hiding apps from the app drawer –
Apple has introduced a feature that allows hiding apps from the app drawer with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Galaxy smartphones had the feature to hide apps and games from the home screen of Galaxy phones for years.
- Editable quick settings toggles –
Finally, Apple introduced the awaited customization tool at WWDC 2024. It lets you create multiple pages in the Control Center and the ability to change the place of quick setting toggles and other parts. Galaxy smartphones have had this feature for years.
- Game Mode –
Apple iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will deliver a Game Mode. This feature will block background activity to offer better gaming frame rates and reduce distractions from notifications.
- Home screen blank spaces
Galaxy devices and all Android smartphones and tablets have the most basic features that permit an arrangement of app icons. Apple now, at the WWDC 2024 event, introduced a feature to arrange app icons as they like, leaving blank spaces anywhere on the screen.
- Proofreading text & language tone suggestions
Apple with Large Language Models (LLM) and Machine Learning (ML), introduced an option to proofread documents, emails, notes, and text messages. Plus, writing style suggestions also arrive with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

On the other side, Samsung already introduced a similar feature along with the One UI 6.1 update. It is compatible with all the most high-end Galaxy devices.
- Lock screen customization
Samsung its Galaxy devices, lets you change the left and right shortcuts on the lock screen. Now, Apple has introduced this feature with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
- Password manager
Until now, Apple offered a general password manager, an Apple Keychain years. Now, Apple iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 introduced a full-fledged password manager called Passwords.
Samsung Wallet offers password management, permitting you to save login credentials for your apps, email accounts, and other online services.
- Summarizing webpages
Apple is offering a new feature in the Safari web browser on its devices running iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 that will summarize webpages.
Recently, Samsung has introduced a feature with One UI 6.1 to summarize webpages through the Samsung Internet web browser.
- RCS support for messaging
Samsung Galaxy devices have supported RCS. Now, Apple is offering support on iPhones running iOS 18 to display the RCS tag inside the messaging field in the default Messages app on iOS 18.
- Reminder integration with Calendar
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 bring support to display reminders created in the Reminders app inside the stock Calendar app. Samsung introduced this facility on Galaxy devices with the One UI 6.0 update.
These are features coming with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 on the Apple devices. Fortunately, all of these already exist on Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
