December 2024 update for unlocked Galaxy S22 in the US

Samsung releases the latest security updates for the Galaxy S22 units in the US. However, the December 2024 update has already been released for the European units of the Galaxy S22. As of now in the US, the update is spotted only on unlocked units of the Galaxy S22 series.

Carrier-locked units should get these security patches in the coming days. For now, unlocked Galaxy S22 users can enjoy improved security of their devices. The update comes with build versions S901U1UES7EXK9, S906U1UES7EXK9, and S908U1UES7EXK9 for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, respectively.

The update brings improved system functionality in some scenarios; however, it does not include any new features. But the important thing is that the update carries fixes for more than 48 vulnerabilities. These patches improve the overall security of the devices.

Samsung is constantly releasing the latest software updates for its Galaxy devices, and many Galaxy devices have already received the December 2024 update. If you don’t receive the latest update notification, you can check the update manually by heading to Settings >> Software updates >> Download and Install.

One UI 7 for the Galaxy S22

Users of the Galaxy S22 are also waiting for the next major upgrade, One UI 7. But as of now, the company has only managed to roll out a beta program for the Galaxy S24 series. Galaxy S22 users have to wait a bit longer to taste the One UI 7 based on Android 15 features.
