New European Union (EU) rules could soon make Samsung Galaxy users compatible with Apple’s AirDrop and AirPlay functions.
Samsung Galaxy device Could soon get Apple’s AirDrop & Airplay service
Apple developed two convenient functionalities; AirDrop & AirPlay. Currently, both of these are only compatible with Apple products. Now it’s expected that soon Samsung Galaxy devices get these features.
The EU (European Union) wants Apple to expand the AirDrop and AirPlay to other companies like Samsung. It has also sent instructions under the Digital Market Act (DMA), including an order for Apple to make a few key changes.
It ordered that Apple should let non-Apple products use AirDrop and AirPlay. This new change is expected to offer other brands access to NFC, share Wi-Fi network info, lead devices from other companies can connect better, and permit Samsung smartwatches to get notifications from iPhones.
What is Apple’s AirDrop Feature
Apple introduced AirDrop as a built-in feature within iOS and macOS that permits users to wirelessly share files. For instance; photos, videos, documents, and more, with nearby Apple devices quickly and easily without even requiring an internet connection.
What is Apple’s AirPlay feature?
AirPlay is a wireless technology introduced by Apple that permits iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to stream audio, video, and photos from their devices to compatible devices such as Apple TV, smart TVs, and wireless speakers.
It will be interesting to see whether Samsung Galaxy devices will get both of these functionalities.
