Galaxy S20 devices are receiving a new update in Europe. The update is rolling out in November, but the Android security patch is still October 2024. The update is offering bug fixes and improvements that were faced after the previous updates.
The Galaxy S20 series includes Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra models. These five devices from 2020 were received the October month security patch around two weeks ago, and now with the same patch, a new update is rolling out to improve the stability and bug fixes. Notably, the latest firmware does not bring new features.
base model of the Galaxy S20 5G is getting the new software update with version number G981BXXSMHXK1. While the Galaxy S20 Plus 5G units are getting it with the build version G986BXXSMHXK1. And the Galaxy S20 Ultra users can identify it with the build version G988BXXSMHXK1.
4G units of the Galaxy S20 are receiving the update with firmware version G980FXXSMHXK1. Lastly, the Galaxy S20 Plus 4G users can identify it with build version G985FXXSMHXK1. The update package size is around MB. However, the changes are not mentioned in the update changelog.
How to download
If the update is available in your country, the update notification should appear on your device. If the update notification does not appear, Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra device users can also check the update manually by heading to Settings >> Software update >> Download and install.
