Samsung is bored working on Android 15-based One UI 7 as it’s already working on it for almost one and a half years. Now it is silently turning its focus to developing the next major software, Android 16-based One UI 8, and the first look of the iteration is already surfacing online.
First look at One UI 8 (Android 16)
Samsung is still struggling with One UI 7, whereas the first One UI 8 look is already surfacing online. One of our colleagues, Smartprix, shared multiple screenshots to leak the first look of Samsung’s future software iteration, One UI 8.
Smartprix has installed the upcoming Android 16-based One UI 8 on its Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, the surprise is not a surprise, since the latest version looked almost identical to that of the current One UI 7.
One UI 8: Now Brief
Samsung has already announced that the Galaxy S25’s exclusive feature Now Brief will not expand to other older devices. However, now, it doesn’t seem the case anymore, since it looks like the function is supposed to be arriving on the older Galaxy device with the coming One UI 8 version. The CYD7 build number of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 revealed the possibility.
One UI 8: Gallery
Samsung will offer minor changes to the Gallery app with the One UI 8. The update will integrate further visual UI design and other convenient & relevant tweaks to improve the overall user experience. This will result in making the tiles more visible and confine all the key options to one place to offer ease while editing.
One UI 8: File Manager
The One UI 8 will bring a few notable tweaks within the File Manager applications as well. Samsung will change the layout of the categories section with the latest update to make it more organized than before. The storage section also has particular categories that permits users to have a quick see-through at their devices’s internal storage.
Noticeably, all of these changes are based on the early Alpha stage of One UI 8, so the public version may bring more changes in the leaked details. Currently, Samsung has paused the One UI 7 rollout, so it will be interesting to see when it will look forward to the release of One UI 8.
