Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 update was supposed to enhance the overall system software. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for the Galaxy S23, since it caused deterioration in sound quality, especially in Dolby Atmos mode.
One UI 6.1.1 affects sound quality on Galaxy S23 smartphones
Samsung took enough time to expand the One UI 6.1.1 update to make it more smooth and stable. However, it isn’t worth, it since the update doesn’t seem stable on the Galaxy S23 series.
Samsung released the Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy S23 series in September. Right after installing the update, the users started experiencing a deterioration in sound quality, especially in Dolby.

The Galaxy S23 users reported that the sound is now perceived as “tinny and washed out,” an efficient departure from the previous “clear and powerful” experience. However, the company has acknowledged the issue following community feedback.
Why One UI 6.1.1 decline the sound quality in Dolby Atmos mode
The company elaborated that the reason behind the decline in the sound quality specifically in Dolby Atmos is due to a version increase from 3.10 to 3.12.
This change was supposed to optimize the 360 audio function, but unfortunately led to unwanted effects in the general audio output.
The brand attributes the sound quality decline to a new sound turning that may not align with user preferences. Now to fix this issue Samsung is collaborating with Dolby and plans to release a dedicated update to Dolby Atmos library to restore the previous sound quality.
However, the exact release date for the update has yet to be announced. But it is expected that soon the company will roll it out to enhance the sound quality. Meanwhile, some users hoped that with the November 2024 security patch, the sound quality would be enhanced, but that’s not the actual case.
