Samsung pushed the January 2025 update to the Galaxy Note 20 5G and Note 20 Ultra. Both devices are getting the latest OTA update in the US on unlocked units; locked units should get the update in the coming days as well. Last time these flagship smartphones received the October 2024 security patch in October last year.

As of now, the January 2025 update can be recognized with build versions N981U1UESBHXL1 and N986U1UESBHXL1 for Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra carrier-locked units, respectively. Note 20 series users need to download an approximately 301.43 MB update package to install it. This update is expected to be available soon in other regions besides America.
The January 2025 Android security patches address 5 critical and 24 high-level security vulnerabilities, while Samsung also adds 22 patches for its Galaxy devices. Around over 50 patches improve the overall security of the devices. To check the latest OTA update manually, head to the Settings menu » Software update option » Download and install.
A few months ago the update frequency was changed from monthly to quarterly for both devices. They have already received all major upgrades and security updates; also, they are near the end of support.
