Samsung Galaxy S25 is the first Galaxy smartphone to run Android 15 out of the box and will also be the first device to get Android 16, as it has now been spotted running One UI 8 on Geekbench.
Samsung Galaxy S25 spotted running One UI 8
The latest Galaxy S25 registered its name as the first Galaxy smartphone to run Android 16-based One UI 8.
A tipster, Tarun Vats, via its X handle, claimed that the Galaxy S25 was spotted running One UI 8 based on Android 16 on Geekbench. The smartphone registered its name on Geekbench with the dedicated build version BYC5.
The listing revealed that the Single-core of the device scored 3135 and the Multi-core scored 9938. The spotting hints that Samsung has started working on Android 16 and could start the beta program than expectations.
Android 16 current status
Google is actively working on its latest Android 16 software update. It has already started the Android 16 beta program. It released the Android 16 beta 1 earlier this year on January 23, 2025, and is codenamed “Baklava.”
Google has released three Android 16 beta updates to date, which suggests that it is on the right track for a June 2025 launch. This could force Samsung to release One UI 8 based on Android 16 sooner than expected.
