Samsung is out of the way with its latest One UI 6.1 rollout. Oppositely, its rival Apple is now bringing AI features for the first time with iOS 18. Let’s compare iOS 18 vs One UI 6.1.
In terms of features, Apple is following Samsung
Samsung and Apple are the biggest rivals of each other in the tech market. Both firm never misses the chance to bully each other over new features, specs, and even tiny things. Samsung is the first brand in the industry to bring generative AI-powered tools to smartphones. Apple is getting inspired by Samsung and bringing AI features with iOS 18.
Not only the AI features, Apple’s iOS 18 is also bringing dozens of One UI 6.1 features to its iPhones. Some notable customizable twerks and convenient features are coming. Let’s take a closer look at the comparison between iOS 18 vs One UI 6.1.
iOS 18 vs One UI 6.1: You decide which is the best
- Let’s start the comparison with the lock screen
The iOS 18 is bringing a rainbow color option for the Clock that allows users to change the color of the clock on the lock screen if they prefer multicolors. Samsung One UI has this rainbow colors option for the Clock on the lock screen. Now, Apple is offering to customize the bottom quick control with this latest update. Samsung One UI 6.1 has been offering this feature to deliver a smooth, fast, and native experience.
- Home screen customization
Apple with its eighteenth major update introduced customization options like themed icons and light and dark icons, something Samsung has done already. One UI’s implementation is quite better than iOS 18.
Better late than never, Apple with its iOS 18 now allows to place icons anywhere on the home screen. This is something iOS should have done before since it is a basic feature. These features are truly inspired by One UI.

- Control Center
Must say iOS 18 introduces the best version of the control center which is mindboggling. It allows to addition of multiple pages which can be resized. Users can add up to 16 brightness sliders and resize the toggles.
Samsung One UI 6.1 Quick Settings is a bit far away from iOS 18 Quick Settings. One UI 6.1 is basic and rigid, it lacks a music player in full view. It also doesn’t allow to resize the toggles. These are some pretty attractive features that One UI 6.1 lacks. However, this is what could One UI 7 adopt from iOS 18.
- System apps
Apple is offering a call recording option with its latest iOS 18, which Samsung One UI has had for years now. The message, Clock, Calculator, and all new photo apps in iSO 18 get enhanced. Samsung should step up its game in this department.

iOS 18 now lets you lock apps using face ID which seems quite instant and secure. It also allows hiding apps in the hidden application drawer. Samsung One UI has already done this option. However, Apple’s implementation is user-friendly and easy to access instantly.
- Game Mode
The game in iSO 18 is quite basic and limits a few background activities. Samsung One UI 6.1 lets you enjoy more than that, from adjusting the performance to checking FPS. Apple should offer more facilities in game mode to enhance the gaming experience.
Apple, at its WWDC 2024 event, announced these iOS 18 features. Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up for the One UI 7 update, which could bring features One UI 6.1 lacks.
