Samsung is anticipated to jump on Android 16-based One UI 8 directly after the One UI 7. Here’s the we are counting all the Galaxy devices (list) that will receive One UI 8 as their first major OS update.

Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 release date

Undoubtedly, the Korean tech giant is already late in rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 to its older Galaxy devices. It is still working on One UI 7 based on Android 15 to expand it on older Galaxy devices. Although, Google has already rolled out Android 15 last year in October 2024.

Again Google is already running on time with Android 16. It has already started the Android 16 beta program and released two beta updates.

Since Samsung is still working on One UI 7, so it will be tough to predict the exact timeline for One UI 8 at least for now.

However, it’s reported that Samsung will skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 this time and will directly jump on the One UI 8.

Android 16-based One UI 8 will be the first major software update for the Galaxy that debuted based on Android 15 out of the box.

The Galaxy device which runs Android 15 out of the box will receive Android 16 as their first ever major OS update. However, the simple logic is devices that launched in 2025 are the only ones that will receive the One UI 8 as their first OS update since they all run One UI 7 out of the box.
