Stable One UI 7 could bring dedicated App Lock

Samsung Galaxy users highly anticipated an individual app lock from Android 15-based One UI 7, but the expectation hasn’t come true. However, if Samsung acknowledges users’ demand, the coming One UI 7 beta update could bring individual app locks.

Samsung One UI 7 Beta

Earlier this month, Samsung released the One UI 7 beta to the Galaxy S24 series in selected regions; including the US, Korea, Germany, India, and Poland.

The update brings several new features, improvements, twerks, impressive animations, a new set of app icons, and more. However, it lacks one of the most demanding and expected features: individual app lock. Samsung has not offered the app lock feature for now in One UI 7.

Samsung to offer App Lock feature with One UI 7

Currently, Samsung offers a primary method for moving the app into the Secure Folder. This is a secure enclave that requires additional authentication, but it consumes time and seems inconvenient.

On the other hand, instead of the primary method, the direct individual app lock seems more convenient. The ability to lock individual apps would be more efficient for various reasons, including protecting sensitive information on shared devices or preventing unauthorized access to applications by children.

However, it seems that Samsung could offer this individual app lock feature with the coming One UI 7 beta updates or the stable version. Because for so long users are aggressively dreaming for this feature.

Regarding this feature, a One UI 7 beta team member shared a quiere that the suggestion is currently being evaluated by the project manager. This suggests that the company could offer it with future updates.

Samsung is already offering individual app lock features in selected region

Individual app lock is not a big deal for Samsung since it is already offering this feature in the Chinese One UI version.

This means that Samsung can bring it globally, maybe with the stable One UI 7 version. It remains to see whether Samsung will fulfill users’ demand.
