Samsung has already started working on Android 16-based One UI 8; here we are revising all the expected features the company could introduce with this latest software update.
Android 16-based One UI 8 release date
Samsung is actively rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. The Android 16-based One UI 8 is reported to be introduced on the latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
These coming foldable phones will debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the first week of July 2025. By this prospect, the One UI 8 will be released sometime in early July. However, it’s not the official timeline, since it’s based on leaks and reports.

Samsung has yet to release any official information regarding its next major Android 16-based One UI 8 update. But leaks and reports regarding One UI 8 features have already started blowing in the market. Here we are listing the leaked features coming with the latest update so far.
One UI 8 could bring a new call log widget to home screen
A tipster, @GerwinvGiessen, shared a post on X, revealing that One UI 8 will offer a new option, allows users to see call logs directly from the home screen via the Phone app widget.

Reportedly, Samsung will introduce two new types of widgets in 2×2 and 4×2 sizes with One UI 8. These new widgets will let you check recent calls quickly without even opening the applications.
One UI 8 could revamp the Weather App with a new UI
A post on X, shared by the same tipster, @GerwinvGiessen, claimed that the coming update will bring a few changes to the Weather app to enhance the user experience.

The upgraded Weather app will include full-screen animated scenes that vividly depict real-time weather scenes. For instance, you will see animated figures with umbrellas during rain, which will make the app more vibrant to gather attention.
One UI 8 to bring a new Quick Share version & multiple new Wallpaper colors
A few days back, one of our reliable colleagues, SamMobile, tried One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to the report, the update will add a new ‘Receive Tab’ under the Quick Share app. The newly added receive tab will let you make your phone more discoverable for file transfer from other devices, for as long as needed.

Samsung will also offer several new wallpaper colors to enhance your wallpaper setting experience. Apart from these, the update will also bring encircled buttons in the Gallery app’s pop-up menu.
One UI 8 could bring notable tweaks to the My Files app
The latest update will enhance the My Files app by offering a redesigned UI. Reportedly, it will add various convenient sections to make it more usable and user-friendly, which are as follows –
- Images, Audio files, Documents, Videos, Downloads, and APK installation files.

One UI 8 could bring Now Brief to more Galaxy devices
Previously, the Smartprix team has managed to install the latest One UI 8 on their Galaxy Z Fold 6. The latest software version brings Now Brief to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is the exclusive feature of the Galaxy S25. This suggests that the update will expand the Galaxy S25 exclusive Now Brief feature to older Galaxy devices.

Apart from this, the update will also bring a few minor changes within the Gallery app by integrating further visual UI design and more relevant tweaks to improve the overall user experience.
